DIY COFFEE DRINK RECIPES

I can’t do without my coffee, it’s a daily thing for me. And as much as I LOVE to go to a coffeehouse to get a good latte, there are times where I’ve not able to get there or afford it. For years I’ve been experiencing with my own DIY coffee drinks and have come up with a few favorite recipes.

These recipes are designed around coffee!  You’ll have to get those coffee beans {whole or ground} somewhere, so I highly suggest shopping local {or online!} for your coffee!

Almost all of these recipes can be modified to be low-carb {keto, LCHF, Trim Healthy Mama} or even dairy-free and paleo! That’s the wonderful thing about coffee and espresso, it can be modified to fit your needs and lifestyle. Or, you can just keep the recipes as is and enjoy!

My teenagers prefer the full-sugar recipes {not that I can blame them!}, but I’m loving some stevia-sweetened iced coffees and lattes these days.

Iced Vanilla Coffee

My favorite DIY iced coffee is simple, just 3 main ingredients! {Coffee, sugar, creamer}

  • 10 cups brewed coffee
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup vanilla creamer

Stir hot, brewed coffee with sugars to dissolve, add creamer. Chill and enjoy!

Make low-carb by substituting the sugar with Stevia and use sugar-free vanilla creamer.

 Iced Caramel Machiatto

Another easy one, this time you’ll want some espresso instead of coffee. If you have an espresso machine, great! If you only have coffee, you can substitute the espresso with coffee {it just won’t be a “true” machiatto}. You can always use a percolator or Moka pot to make espresso without a machine. It also can be made as a hot drink.

  • 2 shots of espresso
  • 2 pumps of vanilla syrup (no syrup? try some vanilla extract!)
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk (or your choice)
  • caramel drizzle (optional)

Brew espresso, add sugar and vanilla to espresso. In another cup, add ice and drizzle caramel around the sides of the cup. Add espresso to iced cup and top with milk.

Make it low-carb by using sugar-free vanilla, Stevia for sugar, and almond, half & half, or heavy whipping cream for your milk. Using a no-sugar caramel drizzle is optional.

Cold Brew

Making your own cold brew at home is easy! You’ll, of course, need coffee and patience. That’s it!  Find my DIY cold brew recipe HERE.

Iced Caramel Vanilla Bulletproof Coffee

Here’s a low-carb option I can really get behind, it’s pretty delicious! It also can be made as a hot drink. Find the recipe HERE.

Latte

They may look challenging, but lattes aren’t so hard to make at home. With the right espresso and frother you can go a long way! If you have an espresso machine, you’ve probably already been making fancy lattes. If not, you can certainly make them without an espresso machine {espresso is best for a true latte}. You can always use a percolator or Moka pot to make espresso without a machine.

  • 2 shots of espresso
  • 2 pumps your choice syrup (or no syrup is you prefer)
  • 1 tsp. sugar (optional)
  • 1/2 cup of warm milk (your choice)

Brew espresso, add sugar and syrup vanilla to espresso. Use a frother to make the warm froth with milk and add to espresso.

Make it low-carb by using sugar-free syrup, Stevia for sugar, and almond, half & half, or heavy whipping cream for your milk.
