WHOA! This list is HUGE and I’ll continue to update it regularly. It won’t be hard to find something affordable (FREE!) to do with the kids this summer, there is something going on almost every day! All events take place in central Indiana, primarily the Indianapolis area and include festivals, activities, and outdoor movies!

Due to the size of this list, I’m attaching it in a PDF format. It can be saved, searched, and bookmarked! The list is in order by DATE – oh yeah! Check it out to see what’s going on!

Donut Trail – Westfield’s Trail System, Westfield

We are glazing new trails in Westfield! Come explore the trails with our unique Donut Trail activity! Before this deliciously fun weekend approaches, you will want to pick up a Donut Trail Passport which contains the rules, a map of all the sweet stops, and participating donut shops to redeem your prizes! Modern Middle Ages Festival – Pectar Park, Avon

Mingle with time travelers from the Bronze Age through the 17th century. Try on armor; watch a fashion show of clothing from many ages; create a scroll with calligraphy and illuminated drawing; hear stories, poems, and songs; play cards, dice and board games; learn dances; work a foot pedal-driven lathe; make a wood cut stamp and a brass rubbing; stamp a coin and put it in your pocket. Fighter competitions will be going on all day in fencing and heavy armor. You may even possibly try your hand at ax throwing and archery or watch demonstrations of spinning, weaving, braiding, and Tudor tailoring. Embrace the full experience, and borrow a period outfit for the day.

Registration required. Enjoy an evening hike through the Zion Nature Sanctuary as we search for nocturnal sights and sounds. We will end the evening roasting marshmallows and enjoying gooey s’mores around the campfire.

Strawberry Festival – Mallow Run Winery, Bargersville

Enjoy our yearly small-batch release of sweet Strawberry Wine, plus GINORMOUS strawberry shortcakes to enjoy. We’ll also have food trucks on-site and live music all day. It should be a berry good time! Complimentary wine tasting (for the parents) in the tasting room until 9pm.

Zionsville Nature Play Days (Teddy Bear Picnic) – Lincoln Park, Zionsville

Registration required. Grab your favorite stuffed animal friend and your lunch and join us for a picnic on the Lincoln Park lawn. After lunch we’re going on a bear hunt! In the event of rain this program will move to the Zion Nature Center.

Zionsville Nature Play Days (Family Dog Walk) – Turkeyfoot Nature Park, Zionsville

Grab your favorite furry family member and join us on a group dog walk. We’ll explore the sights and sounds along Eagle Creek. The trail is stroller accessible.

Zionsville Nature Play Days (Squirt Gun Painting) – Zion Nature Center, Zionsville

Help us create nature masterpieces by painting with…SQUIRT GUNS! We recommend you wear clothing that can get stained. Our final artwork will hang in the Zion Nature Center until the end of the month.

Let’s get outside; summer is here! Time to get out and play! Hamilton County Parks supports the Indiana Children and Nature Network’s (ICAN) efforts to get kids outside by hosting Nature Play Days in several of our parks. Bring your kids to explore the parks, play on the playgrounds, and watch for wildlife. Bring a lunch and have a picnic if you like. Our staff will bring bubbles and other easy outdoor activities. Come and visit our NEW Nature Play Area. This area features natural play elements in a shaded area. It is designed to encourage unstructured play in a natural setting.

Bring your bug net, or borrow one of ours. We’re going on a safari in our backyard. Join us as we search high and low for six and eight-legged creatures.

Registration required. Join the Boone County Solid Waste Management District and Freddy the Fish as we explore water pollution at its effects on our environment as we follow Freddy downstream.

Let’s get outside; summer is here! Time to get out and play! Hamilton County Parks supports the Indiana Children and Nature Network’s (ICAN) efforts to get kids outside by hosting Nature Play Days in several of our parks. Bring your kids to explore the parks, play on the playgrounds, and watch for wildlife. Bring a lunch and have a picnic if you like. Our staff will bring bubbles and other easy outdoor activities. Play on the arch eology-inspired playground and see the early Native American interactive display. Wander through the prairie to the woods and river.

Cool Creek Campfires (Birds of Prey) – Cool Creek Park, Noblesville

Take Flight Wildlife Education’s Mark Booth will bring several birds of prey to share with the audience. Hawks, owls, and kestrels are just a few of the amazing birds that prey on small animals and examples of what Booth will have for the audience! Join us around the Cool Creek campfire ring for songs, presentations, and marshmallows. Cindy Baney, music educator with Moriah Music, will start the evening off with music. Special speakers will then entertain guests each week with topics about snakes, birds, turtles, and more. Hang out with your family and friends during these special Wednesday evenings. You’re invited to the Farmstead for hands-on activities to create crafts and toys that would’ve been available to children in the 1930s, as well as old-fashioned games our grandparents and great-grandparents would’ve played when they were children.

Grab your clue sheet in the Zion Nature Center and solve the riddles to find the letterboxes hidden on our trail. Each letterbox contains a stamp and ink pad to prove you found it. Find all the letterboxes and claim a prize.

A 5K Walk/Run and Half K Run for Kids, brought to you by the Fishers YMCA and Geist Half Marathon, with a new route for 2019, the Fishers Farmers’ Market in the Nickel Plate District Amphitheater, a massive street fair in the Municipal Complex featuring local artisans, food vendors, businesses, and community organizations, a patriotic evening parade through downtown Fishers, a dazzling firework show to cap off the celebration.

Freedom Fest – Craig Park Greenwood

Celebrate Freedom!! Come kick off the day with a parade at noon followed by perusing nearly 200 vendors, including arts and shops, food, your favorite local beer and wines. Not to mention some rocking stage performances by some local artists and the Freedom Jam where local bands come together to compete for a chance to open the Amphitheater at next year’s Freedom Festival.It’s going to be a full day of Fun, Food, Festivities, and Fireworks. Admission is free, but VIP tickets are also available.

Rib Fest & Balloon Glow – Kingsway Christian Church, Avon

A local tradition since 2005, features live entertainment, games for kids, lots of food, and fireworks! On top of all that, we are having the Rib-Run and Avon Balloon Glow to add to the exciting planned for the evening.
