Everyone has heard of the Tik Tok-inspired drink, whipped coffee. Or otherwise known as Dalgona Coffee. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, this drink has made itself popular across social media. And, you’ll only need 3 ingredients: instant coffee, sugar, and milk. It’s easy to make and pretty delicious as well! It took me a few tries before I was sold on it, but it’s a solid drink.
Dalgona coffee first became popular on a South Korean YouTube channel as a channel (using the hashtag #dalgonacoffeechallenge) before going viral on Tik Tok. The spike in interest for this popular drink happened during the quarantine when coffee shops had to close and consumers wanted to make it at home.

Use a blender or frother
You’ll want to use a blender or frother to make the whipped coffee. Other tutorials will tell you that you can do this by hand, but it’s really hard and brutal on the hands. It will take 10+ minutes of “whipping” it with whisking by hand before peaks start to form, a blender or frother will have it done in 4-5 minutes without your hand having to suffer.
We also like to make several drinks at one (usually 3 at a time), this seems to help the whipped coffee get frothier faster. I also use decaf instant coffee because a whipped coffee contains quite a bit of caffeine

You can add toppings to your whipped coffee to add specific flavors or enhance your drink. Check out some of the ideas below!
Topping ideas:
- Whipped topping
- Cocoa powder
- Cookie crumbles
- Coffee powder
- Honey
- Mocha or chocolate syrup
- Caramel drizzle
