Meet Jamie!
In 2017, I launched Cornfields and High Heels, which began as a hobby and has since developed into a full-time career. I write books and travel stories for my blog and other publications. I serve as a Wanderful Indianapolis HUB leader, providing a travel space for solo and female travelers. Recently, I was honored with the Granger 2024 Indiana Travel Journalist Award, recognizing my writing.
My love for travel has taught me that it can be experienced near and far. Sometimes, it takes the form of an adventurous outing in my community, while other times, it involves a 20-hour road trip to the West Coast. I have two adult daughters who have grown up experiencing numerous road trips and spontaneous adventures. Occasionally, my senior cat, Colt, also joins my travel stories. He particularly enjoys car trips, especially if there are pup cups involved!
From Cornfields to High Heels: A Midwestern Girl’s Journey
Growing up among the Amish communities and cornfields of Indiana, I developed a deep appreciation for small-town living. Eventually, I relocated from my hometown to the more urban setting of central Indiana, where I now reside closer to Indianapolis. Despite my proximity to the city, my love for the Midwest and desire to explore the world beyond has grown stronger.
As a freelancer, I can work remotely and travel at my own pace. While I still enjoy throwing on a pair of heels for a night out in the city, I have also come to appreciate the tranquility of farm-town life. Country drives, sunsets overlooking the cornfields, and slow, intentional travel have all become part of my lifestyle. This contrast between city life and rural living is reflected in the blog’s name, “Cornfields and High Heels.”
