Honeysuckle Hill Bee-stro & Cottage
The Honeysuckle Hill Bee-stro & Cottage is a charming restaurant and cottage in Brazil, Indiana. The cottage is a bed and breakfast situated on the same property as the bee-stro and nestled in a peaceful, rural setting surrounded by a small lake. Evidence of bee boxes can be seen throughout the property, as the owners, Andy and Jodi, are also beekeepers. The delectable honey they produce is also served at the bee-stro.
The Cottage at Honeysuckle Hill is available for short-term lodging all year long. It has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a full kitchen, and a living room. The owners, Andy and Jody Lohrman, beautifully crafted and designed the cottage. Personal touches and thoughtful details can be found throughout the cottage, from the tiles in the bathroom to the bee box used to create a bathroom sink cabinet.

A cozy lakeside cottage
Welcoming and cozy bedrooms complement spacious and well-appointed bathrooms with jet-stream showers. The main floor master bedroom suite features a king-sized Murphy bed with a plush memory foam mattress and soft sheets. Andy handcrafted the lamps, bed, and shelves stocked with books by local authors. Upstairs in the loft is a queen bed and sofa and a second bedroom with another queen bed.
The kitchen has everything you need to prepare a home-cooked meal, including a coffee and tea bar with honey and a snack drawer. A complimentary breakfast basket is delivered to the cottage’s front porch in the morning. We enjoyed delicious handmade banana muffins and honey yogurt.
The living room has a fireplace, comfortable couches, cozy blankets, and a TV. A coffee table is decorated with magazines for reading. My favorite details in the living room are the inspiration wall, faux cowhide chairs, and the J.R.R. Tolkien quote hand-painted onto an old projection screen.
The Cottage at Honeysuckle Hill has a private deck to take in the fresh air and stunning lake views. The deck is also perfect for unwinding with the Blackstone, reading a book, or enjoying coffee. From the deck, you can take a stroll to the lake. A wooded walking trail offers lake views and a bench to sit and enjoy the scenery.
The Beestro – where “Hospitality is Flavored with Honey.”
The Cottage at Honeysuckle Hill is situated in the former Bee-stro building. The Bee-stro is a boutique restaurant that creates all its dishes from scratch. The Bee-stro is open to the public on Fridays and Saturdays from April to December for lunch and dinner. Reservations are accepted but not required.
The Bee-stro features wood-burning stoves and lake views. The Indiana Room is a special place for me because it celebrates the Hoosier state and hosted a book signing for my 100 Things To Do In Indiana Before You Die book last year.
Since Andy and Jodi are beekeepers, honey is used in about one-third of the Bee-stro’s recipes. Everything at the Bee-stro is created from scratch on-site using local ingredients when possible. The Bee-stro accepts orders for carry-out, catering, and private party reservations. Make sure to order dessert, no matter what you do!
