Knightstown Makers Market

Knightstown, Indiana is well-known for the historic gym where Coach Norman Dale and Jimmy Chitwood played in the movie Hoosiers. However, a new and exciting development is occurring along the Historic National Road. With funds raised by community members and a matching grant from the Indiana Housing & Community Development Authority (IHCDA), the Main Street and Beautify Knightstown organizations have completed a multi-shop Knightstown Maker’s Market featuring the work of local artisans.

Five cottages on Main Street in Knightstown are designated as The Knightstown Makers Market, where artisans can rent space to sell their goods and crafts. These cottages provide affordable opportunities for artisans to start their businesses and contribute to the downtown area’s development.

The market is open every weekend, May through December, and there are currently twenty artisans in the cottages. The artisans sell various goods, such as wreaths, suncatchers, and handmade soaps. The market is a popular destination for locals and visitors alike, and it has helped revitalize Knightstown’s downtown area.

The cottages are climate-controlled, well-lit, and wheelchair accessible. The Makers Market project also includes seating on the nearby Knightstown Public Square, featuring tables, chairs, and umbrellas. There is public WiFi available for downtown Knightstown as well. Visitors will enjoy shopping for unique items and gifts from vendors selling pottery, paintings, leather goods, woodwork, metalwork, home decor, and other crafts.

The market is open Friday to Sunday through the holiday shopping season and closes after Christmas. The Market is closed from December 24th through April and reopens in May.
